3. Introduction
Using information held in Franchise Data and the vehicle consignment date the system can calculate the adoption
date for each vehicle stock record.
If a vehicle is sold before the adoption date has been reached the system will prompt the user to adopt the vehicle
during the routine to create the main sales invoice. If this option to adopt the vehicle is taken the procedure
outlined here is done by the system with no further user input required, other than to process the purchase invoice
for the vehicle through the Purchase Ledger module.
Where the adoption date is passed before the vehicle has been sold the vehicle will need to be adopted manually
following the procedures in this document.
The procedure outlined below follows a rule called the 8DSS9 rule. The letters in DSS stand for Date, Status and
Save. It is very important to do his things in this order so that postings go into the correct periods.
