Vehicle Costs
Introduction
There are two types of cost on a vehicle record, Recoverable and Non recoverable.
Recoverable Costs
These are displayed on the Specification page of the vehicle record and represent all items being sold onto the
customer. These include the vehicle price and delivery charge, Factory Options, Dealer Fitted Accessories,
Warranty and Insurance.
Non Recoverable Costs
These are detailed on the Costs page and account for all the costs involved in preparing and selling the vehicle.
Typical of such costs would include PDI, or in the case of used vehicles, preparation costs. It is also possible to
handle negative costs e.g. bonuses, finance commission and for used vehicles, road fund licence refunds.
Each cost has a source code attached, via the Analysis Code; this determines how the actual cost will be
received. The source code may be amended on the vehicle record if required. This does not apply to items set
up as a Fixed cost.
Source Codes
S - Sales Ledger

P - Purchase Ledger
For items where the cost will be updated by way of a purchase invoice processed through the batch input or
invoice register routines in the purchase ledger. Used frequently for road fund licences and introductory
commissions.
