STEP
PROCESS
STEP 1
All the initial elements in the usage of these pseudo labour lines is exactly the same as
when using genuine labour lines i.e. searching or keying in the appropriate RTS code,
adding appropriate text etc. This is detailed in 05.002.02.L1 Completing Labour Lines
STEP 2
At the completion stage of these lines, the progress status needs to set to Complete,
but the allowed time is not recorded in hours, but in either :
a)
b)
The monetary value to be charged if the line is for a sundry charge
The volume of oil issued if the line is for the sale of oil through the service
department
The taken time should also be inserted, and this would be the same as the allowed
time. A technician/employee number is not required.
The labour rate letter is the key to why labour lines can be used to make charges other
than genuine labour. The letter is used as part of a background process that dictates
which nominal ledger accounts will receive the postings.
For sundry sales, the labour rate is normally set to £1, so when the allowed time is
entered, it will represent the charge, e.g. 6.75 8hours9 at £1/hour = £6.75
For oil sales, the labour rate would be set to the selling price of the oil, so if the labour
rate was set to £4.60 and the allowed time (i.e. quantity of oil issued) was 5.50, the
charge would be 4.60 8hours9 x £5.50/hour = £25.30.
Different labour rates can be set up to reflect different selling prices for oils (semi
synthetic, gearbox oil etc).
Once an oil or sundry line has been set up, it will appear as a normal labour line.
