Nominal Ledger
Structure
Introduction
The Nominal Ledger Account Code consists of two components, a four digit Cost Centre and an Expense Code.
The Expense Code is typically four digits but can be up to eight, set to suit customer requirements.
The Cost Centre represents a financial section of the company, e.g. profit centre or department. The Expense
Codes are used to give a full breakdown of income, expenses, assets, liabilities and shareholders9/proprietor9s
equity.
A valid Nominal Account is a Cost Centre and Expense Code joined together.
