7. Purchase Control
Introduction
This section of the notes only details the fields and information held within Purchase control, details of how to use
the common Purchase Control functions are detailed as separate processes.
When you access the Purchase Control system from the menu, you will be asked to enter your Log-in and (if
used) password.
A purchase order is made up of two parts:
The Header This contains the more general details of the order and may hold information necessary for
communicating with the Manufacturer.
The Lines of the order which contains the details of the individual parts lines.
It is only necessary to create a purchase header if you wish to allocate your own individual order numbers. When
a new purchase order is created in Purchase Lines or a new stock order is automatically generated, the system
will create an order header for that order.
A default header may be set within the system which will assign certain fields to every purchase header. This will
save the user typing information which will remain constant on every order header.
The documentation frequently mentions both order numbers and order headers, but for most practical purposes
they can be considered to be the same thing.
