Suggested & Actual Stock
Order Creation
6. Suggested & Actual Stock Order Creation
During the course of business, it will be necessary to ask the system to produce a recommended stock order
using the information already set up within Stock Management and Purchase Control and taking into account the
demand against the parts concerned.
In order to understand exactly how the system has arrived at its recommendations, it is necessary to consider the
information contained in the Stock Management manual relating to Reorder Categories, Safety Coefficients,
Max/Mins, Lead Times, Period Between Orders and Average Monthly Demand. Some information relating to the
formulae for these calculations is contained elsewhere in these notes.
When you use the Generate Stock Order option you will be asked to complete a series of prompts, your answers
to these will vary the parts and quantities ordered.
It is generally recommended that you generate a 8test9 order first, as this will allow you to see how the final order
will look, without committing to its generation.
As the same screen is used for both a suggested and final order generation, it is a simple matter to move from
one to the other.
You should always remember that once the order has been generated and attached to a Purchase Order, it can
still be amended within Purchase Control prior to submission.
Note:
The system will still order up to maximum level, taking into account any Supplier backorders and Customer
backorders that already exist.
Thus for a stock record with:
Total stock quantity of 8
Outstanding purchases of 3
Outstanding Customer orders of 2
Maximum level of 15
Minimum level of 10
The system would recommend an order of 6, made up from 7 to get to maximum, +2 to fulfil the customer orders,
-3 to take in to account outstanding supplier orders.
