This will detail the Product Group for that part, you should then refer to the appropriate Product group file, this will
show you the Discount Group. Use this to load the correct Discount Map for the part (or Parts if they share the
same Product Group) you wish to refer to.
Various possible combinations of the link between Franchise, Product Group and Discount Group are shown
below, examples of which are shown below.
The main objective of the Discount map is to point the system to a specific discount matrix or table; these table
hold details of the amount of discount offered (by discount code) when the part is bought or sold.
The letters in the left-hand column denote the customer discount type., and can be found in the Sales Ledger
record for the customer (Discount 1 and 2); additionally the bottom line is used for the purchase of parts.
In this section we will be discussing part purchase only; selling discounts using the Discount maps and tables are
covered on the 8Parts Point-of-Sale Managers9 course and details can be found in the training notes for that
course.
When looking at purchasing the heading of the column indicate the terms under which the parts have been
ordered. These are normally
8S9 for Stock order terms
8V9 for VOR (emergency orders)
8C9 for Local collection terms
8W9 for Weekly/Warranty orders.
To determine the Discount Table that holds the discount details for parts purchased through various order terms,
you simply cross reference the order terms with the purchasing line on the appropriate map.
