6. Automatic Parts Discounting
The following steps detail the information path taken during the calculation of discount for a parts sale.
1. Point of Sale
The Customer account number entered into point of sale links to the
correct customer detail file.
2. Point of Sale
The Part number entered onto point of sale links to the Stock Card for
that particular part.
3. Customer Detail File Discount Code 1 (Parts sale through parts department) links into the
Discount Map and provides the Customer Discount Code.
4. Discount Map
The Discount Map looks to the point of sale screen to find the Discount
Category that has been selected on the Codes tab; this can be
overwritten for an individual line by selecting a different Discount
Category of the Parts Detail Screen.
5. Discount Table
-By cross referencing the Customer Discount Type and the Discount
Transaction Code, we get the number of the correct Discount Table to
use.
6. Discount Table
The Discount Table looks to the Stock Card to obtain the correct Discount
Code to use.
7. Discount Table
The price code indicates which price from the stock card should be used
for the transaction, e.g. R = Retail.
8. Discount Table
The Discount Table also shows if the part is to be Marked up (M) or
Discounted (D) and the percentage to be applied. This then places the
relevant information into Point of Sale.
The above set of interactions allows the Autoline system to put a discount structure in place for all your
customers, parts, etc. This will be applied automatically when the customer account and the part are
selected; while taking into consideration the sourcing method of the part, the relevant costs to be
considered and the point of sale (parts or through the workshop).
