12. Introduction
If franchise data is being supplied by a third party organisation such as David Henley or CAP Data the new
vehicle prices will be included in the information supplied by them. Each time a change is made to the vehicle
prices David Henley and CAP Data will supply the new information which can be uploaded from disc or through
the internet.
Both the Vehicle Stock Books (VSB) and the Showroom modules need the costs and selling prices of all the new
variants that the business is selling. If these values have not been entered in the Franchise Data module they
can still be entered directly onto the vehicle stock records in VSB.
If the prices showing in the VSB module are not correct they can be adjusted within the module but it is
recommended that the Franchise Data module is corrected also so that the next time the variant is selected the
correct prices are pulled through from Franchise Data.
Normally, only the selling price of the vehicles will need to be entered into Franchise Data and the cost price is
calculated from this using the vehicle margins set at franchise or model level - refer to processes 03.001.01 –
Creating Franchise Details and 03.001.02 Creating Model Details.
The method of calculating the cost price is determined by the setting on the variant record for each vehicle - refer
to process 03.001.03 Creating Model Variants.
The Pricing tab has a setting called 8Cost calculation9, there are four possible settings here:

N – Percentage of list price from model or franchise
P – Percentage of list price for this variant only
C – Fixed cost price (value)
B – Fixed bonus (value)
If this is set to N - Percentage of list price from model or franchise then only the manufacturer9s list price will need
to be entered on each variant. The system will look for the margin entered first at model level and if this is zero it
will look for the margin at franchise level. It will use the margin to calculate the cost of the vehicle from the list
price of the vehicle.
