5. Select the Availability of the Option
Once an option has been created and the prices attached to it the availability of the option has to be set. There
are five settings of availability:
•
•
•
•
•
Optional
Standard
Standard / Removable
Not Available
Not Yet Defined
Usually the options are set as 8Optional9 although the other settings can be used if necessary.
The availability of an option works in a similar manner to the pricing of the options. If the First Registration Fee
used as the example above is created at just the global level its availability at all the levels below can selected
(usually as Optional or Blank). Thus if this option is ticked as 8Optional9 at the Global level it will be optional at all
the levels below it in the structure. In this case the option will be shown as an option on all the franchises, all the
models and all the variants.
If the First Registration Fee was not payable on (say) Model 1, it can be de-ticked (set to Blank) on this model and
it will automatically be de-ticked on all the Variants of Model 1. Model 2 and its variants will not be affected by the
de-ticking of the option on Model 1.
If an option is ticked as 8Optional9 then each variant record created in VSB and Showroom on which it is optional
will have the details and prices of the option brought through onto the vehicle record. These options can then be
selected and put onto the vehicle if required. If the options are not ticked as optional they will not be available as
options in the VSB and Showroom modules.
If the options are ticked as 8Standard9 options they will automatically be attached to the vehicle records created in
VSB and Showroom but the prices (if set) will also come through and these will generally need to be reset to zero.
Using the Build Specification Window
After an option has been created, the prices attached to it and its 8availability9 at each level or variant is set, the
option information will be displayed in the Build Specification Window as shown below.
Before any changes are made to an existing option it is important to find the level where the settings have been
made.
The display of the options in the window shown below has a colour coding which will help determine where the
option was created, where the option 8availability9 was defined (or not defined) and where the prices have been
set.
