Creating Generic
Trim Codes
9. Introduction
Generic trim codes are used to group the manufacturer9s various trims which helps to find a specific trim in the
Vehicle Stock Books and Showroom modules. Most manufacturers offer an extensive list of trims. It is these lists
of trims that are put into generic trim code groups. Thus all the manufacturer9s trims which are a type of cloth trim
(for instance) can be attached to the generic trim group 8Cloth9. To find any of the trims which are a variation of
cloth the user can select the generic trim code 8Cloth9 and only those trims in this group will be available for
selection on a specific vehicle record (in Vehicle Stock Books or the Showroom module).
The Generic Trim Codes need to be set up before the manufacturers trims can be set up, refer to process
03.004.02 – Creating Manufacturer Trims/Cabtypes.
Once the main generic trim codes have been set up (usually prior to 8Go-live9) it is rare for any new ones to have
to be created.
