Creating Generic
Colour Codes
7. Introduction
Generic colour codes are used to group manufacturer9s colours, this grouping of the colours helps the users in the
Vehicle Stock Book (VSB) and Showroom modules to find the specific colours.
Most manufacturers offer an extensive list of colours, it is this list of colours that is split into Generic Colour Code
8groups9.
Thus, in the example shown below, all the manufacturer9s colours which are a variation of the colour red are
attached to the generic colour group 8RED9. To find any of the colours which are a variation of the colour red, the
user can select the generic colour code 8Red9 and only those colours in this group will be available for selection.
Every colour set up on the system is put into a generic category.
The generic colour codes need to be set up before the manufacturers colours can be set up, refer to process
03.003.02 – Creating Manufacturer Colours/Wheelbase.
Once the main generic colour codes have been set up (usually prior to 8Go-live9) it is rare that any new codes will
need to be created.
