Creating Model
Variant Details
4. Introduction
Model variant information can be supplied by a third party organisation such as the vehicle manufacturers, David
Henley or CAP Data and this is uploaded onto the system via the import routine.
This process deals with the manual creation of variant codes where the information is not supplied from a third
party.
If a new variant is being set up because the information has not yet been supplied by the third party information
supplier, it is important to try to establish which code will be used by the third party when they eventually supply
the information. If this code can be identified and used, when the variant information is eventually supplied from
the third party it will overwrite the existing variant details instead of creating another similar variant.
Variant details cannot be created until the model details have been created, see process 03.001.02 Creating
Model Codes. Each model will normally have many variant record created and attached to it.
Before a variant record can be used in the Vehicle Stock Book (VSB) or Showroom modules it will need to be
created in Franchise data.
Specific information relating to each variant is held at this level.
