Creating Model
Details
3. Introduction
Model code information is usually supplied by a third party organisation such as the respective vehicle
manufacturers, David Henley or CAP Data and is uploaded onto the system via the import routine.
This process deals with the manual creation of model codes where the model information has not been supplied
by a third party.
If a new model is being set up because the information has not yet been supplied by the third party information
supplier it is important to try to establish which code will be used by the third party when they eventually supply
the information. If this code can be identified and used, when the model comes through from the third party it will
overwrite the existing model details instead of creating another similar model.
The Franchise Details have to be created before the Model Codes can be created – see the process 03.001.01
Creating Franchise Details.
Important information used throughout the organisation such as service and warranty periods and market launch
dates is held at model level. All franchise models to be bought and sold by the dealership will need to be created
in the Franchise Data module before the model is available in the Vehicle Stock Book or Showroom modules.
