Creating Company
Records
6. Introduction
A company record holds vital information such as the company name, address, contact methods, type of business
and how the company has heard about the dealership.
The CRM database must be searched before a company record can be created to ensure that duplicate records
do not exist, refer to process 02.001.01 L1 Searching for CRM Records for more information.
Company records will be created by numerous departments – for example, the accounts department may create
a company record when an organisation wishes to set up an account with the dealership. Or alternatively, a sales
executive may create a company record if a person is interested in purchasing a company vehicle.
In the majority of cases company records will be attached to customer records so that any correspondence can
be targeted to the correct individual within a business rather than just to the company, see process 02.002.002 L1
Attaching Customers to Company Records for more information.
